safe journey to scotland

24 11 2010

we had a safe journey to scotland though we missed our flight at Heathrow due to high security check up at the airport thus Heathrow aiport and also due to the delay in departure in Joburg at All -R- Thambo where by we delayed by 40 minutes, in stead of starting at 8:45 pm we started off at 9:15 pm which meant delaying even in our arrival at Heathrow Airport in London.
this time we are experiencing snow throwing and it is really amazing to us.
we love you, take care.

More Study Visits

21 11 2010

Fleix Magaleta and Alice Lungu arrived in Scotland today after the long journey from Blantyre in Malawi. They were in great spirits even though they missed the connection in Heathrow. They both complained of the cold but this is to expected in Scotland in November. They were surprised when I told them that it was snowing in Kingussie. Hopefully, over the next few days we can have many discussions about our partnership and developing global dimensions within both schools.

Assembly at Kingussie High School

31 08 2010

Last Thursday most of the participants came back to school to share their experiences of Malawi with the pupils staff and parents at Kingussie High School. The staff were proud to wear the traditional costumes presented to them in Muloza on the last day and the pupils spoke about all of their adventures. The warmth of the welcome in Muloza and the visit to the Mary’s Meals project were the hightlghts for most of the young people. It was obvious that they have many shared memories of a fabulous time spent together in Malawi.
We are now trying to put together a CD of photos and editing all the film footage so that we have something to share with parents and the community.

Back Home Safely

16 07 2010

We have all arrived safely back in Scotland after 28 hours travelling. I am sure that there are many memories that will stay with us for a very long time especially about the people we met and the warm welcome we received wherever we went. The backpack distribution to a primary school with the charity Mary’s Meals was highlighted by many of the group as the best bit and shows how a simple idea can make a difference to a whole community.
We would like to thank all of the staff, students and parents at Muloza Community Day Secondary School for their hospitality and frienship and hope that the link between the 2 schools will go from strength to strength.  We are very much looking forward to seeing 2 of the Muloza teachers in Kingussie during the next session.                                                                                  We also very much appreciate the support from KHS community and look forward to sharing our photos with as many people as possible.
Mrs D.
